Spotlight Artist: Chrystal Hardt
How a kitchen renovation helped her career.
Here’s what I love about coaching artists - everything in our lives becomes fodder for our greatest becoming....
Which is why, when Chrystal Hardt started thinking about the next great exhibition she wanted to have, she took what might seem like a detour and ended up renovating her kitchen.
Yup.
And here’s how it had everything to do with her art career.
Long before American artist Chyrstal Hardt signed up for the Become Internationally Known program… just seven months ago, she had ideas about where she wanted her art career to go.
She wanted to reach a broader audience and get her art out of the small town she lives in.
She wanted to work with a new caliber of gallery.
She also wanted a new kitchen…
But hadn’t taken action on it for years.
She didn’t believe that she could have what her heart desired.
As she worked through the program, she realized that she could have what she wanted… From there, she came up with the resources she needed to create it.
While the kitchen renovation took her away from the studio at times, it gave her something invaluable - the conviction that she can follow her desires and create whatever she needs to fulfill them…
Including selling artwork easily (which she’s done).
Including winning Best in Show at an artfest (which she’s also done).
Including selling a painting-in-progress before it was even done (because she decided she would… And then she did.)
This meant not letting go of what her heart was longing for… Even when it didn’t seem to make sense.
It also meant having the hard conversations that were required along the way.
Chrystal didn’t just renovate her kitchen…
She renovated her belief in what’s possible…
This is why she’s committed to creating a spectacular new exhibition in an inspiring, unconventional location… Where she’ll show her fabulous, nature-based and life-affirming art in a way that few people have seen before.
When I asked Chrystal what’s changed since she started the program, she told me…
“I had a great idea but I had moved past it because it involved things that I don’t yet know how to do. With a new mindset I can stay in the space of figuring out what I don’t know versus just blowing past the great idea. This is a shift that will make my life much more expansive and will take my art to another level.”
Which is exactly what’s happening with her art as well.
Chrystal recently decided that her art sold easily…
And it did.
How did she do it?
First, she decided to believe it. And then, she said the words we often forget (or are too scared to speak) out loud, “It’s for sale.”
Those three words, backed with the unshakeable belief that she can sell work, easily have set sales in motion.
So if you desire to have something that feels out of reach or impossible… Decide that it isn’t!
