Spotlight Artist: Theodora Price
I bet this will strike a chord with you…
I see it and hear it often (and used to do it myself).
We shrink.
We settle.
We don’t speak up.
We’re afraid to take up space.
And then we wonder why our art isn’t having the impact we want it to.
When British artist Theodora Price signed up for the Become Internationally Known program… just six months ago, she wanted to take up more space (both for herself and her art)...
But found herself hunched over on the floor with an aching back, making art…
No easel…
And no room of her own…
She wasn’t sure which direction to go with her art…
What she really wanted was to create a new body of work based on what she felt…
And what she wanted to express.
But her mind kept wondering, “Should I create more paintings that people respond well to… Even though my heart is pulling me in another direction?”
In her own words, “I felt like I wasn’t allowed to take up space as an artist, I was working on the floor which made my back hurt and I didn’t feel abundant in being able to live my purpose.”
Fast forward four months…
Theodora committed to creating not just a body of work… But the body of work she wanted to make.
She didn’t know how it would turn out, or how it would all look… Et voila!
Not only did she create 15 new paintings, but she also created the conditions she needed for her authentic expression to flow out onto the canvas.
She set up her workspace in a way that works for her, bought an easel, committed to weekly group meditations, a supportive morning routine and spending time with people that are positive.
And yes, her boundaries were tested along the way!
The Universe sent Theodora plenty of opportunities to say No to people and connections that weren’t on the same wavelength…
And ultimately didn’t serve her.
Was it easy?
Nope!
But that didn’t stop her.
She showed up and did the hard work to become the artist who does what she says…
And prioritizes her own needs and what supports her best…
So that the work could flow out of her.
And flow out of her it did!
Not only has she created 15 new paintings for her ‘Freedom to Feel’ project… She’s been offered an exhibition at a local art gallery!
Theodora is literally taking up space… And about to fill it with a beautiful, new body of art.
Inspiring, right?
